So, I here this is a show about, what, a bunch of meth heads & a chemistry teacher, or something? Welcome back Kotter meets Dazed & Confused?
Meh, I'll just watch Food Networks "Cut Throat Kitchen", the suspense on how Chef Paul will cook an egg on an upside down frying pan is too much to resist. :p

The show is similar to Chopped, with four chefs cooking dishes selected by Alton Brown, then, when the dishes are complete, having them judged by a "guest chef". A.B. then gives each chef $25K in cash to bid on items that he presents just before cooking is to begin. The chefs have 1 minute to pick ingredients from a pantry. The items for bid are usually something that sabotages a competitor, like only being able to use a torch to heat your pans, a 5 minute time out, or having the chef use all pans upside down. The chefs only have the $25K that A.B. gives them in the beginning, and what they have left at the end of the show, if they win, is what they keep. So, if a chef does not bid on an item in hopes of keeping his/her cash, they can end up having so many conditions placed on their cooking, they get cut. It's a pretty good cooking show. My family likes to watch it during dinner.

Nothing "meh" about Breaking Bad. I was definitely a skeptic going into it though. And no, the meth is really just a plot device. Its use and the people who use it aren't a central part of the show.
